Hand pain with PMR

I am having a lot of pain with my hands. My rheumatologist insist that it can't be PMR. I know that a lot of you have said that you have pain with your hands. I even tried arguing with her but I got nowhere. She just said maybe I have RA. So I did a little research and I came up with a disease that is similar with PMR and often goes along with PMR. And I wondered if anyone here has ever heard of it. It's called RS3PE. It causes pain in the hands and the feet and yes my right foot hurts too. I'm going to bring this up to my rheumatologist and see what she says.

Thank you for all the input. I am inclined to agree with a reduction to one 25mg tablet which as you say is already higher than the recommended starting dose for PMR. I think it quite possible that my doctor was concerned about GCA, although I am non symptomatic for that.
But I have been through the mill a bit lately so I think he is being a bit overzealous. I'm taking loads of vit D3, magnesium and Co enzyme Q10 to try and restore muscle elasticity and strength. And Arsenicum album. Any thoughts?

I have PMR (I say have because I don't think that it ever totally leaves your body). After 2 years of Prednisone, I thought that I was over PMR but it remains in your body even if it lies low. I haven't been on this site in quite awhile but I just got back on to see if anyone was experiencing the same pain in their hands as I am. My pain is in both hands but worse in the right one (I am right handed). It is in the fleshy part between my thumb and index finger. When it flares up I cannot even write properly because of the pain. My GP says that it is arthritis but I know how arthritis feels and this is very different. It is between a burning sensation and stinging. Any arthritis pain I have had aches ... very different from the burning. It does flare up and then settles down (not sure what the triggers are). My feet are really not an issue in this particular case.
?I cannot help but feel that the pain is associated with the vascular component with PMR as the veins protrude and get much darker in colour than is normal for me and tend to cluster around my wrist. I am probably not describing it very well but I am wondering if anyone can relate to what I am saying i.e. enlarged veins that flare up and that burn or sting as opposed to ache.
?I would appreciate hearing from anyone who feels this same type of pain. Doctors, Rheumies and others have a long way to go in addressing PMR and its associated pain. Thanks in advance.

If I'm hatching a flare the first place it registers is in the fleshy past at the base of my thumbs as a dull ache. I can't say I've notice the blood vessels in the area though. But it is more likely to be arteries than veins that would be involved - GCA is definitely an arteritis. PMR remains an enigma.
