Hand Tingling and Numbness

I hope I'm putting this in the right place. Today I was playing video games, which is something I do pretty often. All of the sudden my hands started tingling and went numb. I couldn't move some of my fingers, and they all started shaking. I stopped playing the game and I ended up putting my hands in some cold water. It finally stopped after a few minutes but it scared me because I've never had that happen like that before. Does anyone know what it could have been? Any help would be appreciated!
