Hands Sensitive to Cold after Near-frostbite

Hi All,

My friend has had cold-sensitive hands since she almost got frostbite last winter. Healthline says that "Skin that has been previously injured, such as by frostbite, may remain sensitive to cold even after the injury has healed", and but we have yet to find a remedy. How long should this condition last, and is there anything she can do to remedy or mitigate her cold intolerance?

Stay warm,

HJP

Yes,that is true, she may always have a sensitivity to cold. Has she had any blood tests? Is she anaemic or lacking B12 vitamin. If so it may help to take supplements.

It seems obvious but she should make sure she is well wrapped up in cold weather with adequate gloves and footwear.

I have a similar problem. I almost lost my toe to frostbite in 2014. Since then, it always goes numb if I expose it to cold weather. I have tried finding a remedy to that but in vain. During winters if I see the outside temperature on my Climacell app shows below 50, I have to wear an extra woollen sock on my feet and wear my insulated boot.

Tell her to try rubbing her hands softly very often. She could also try staying in a warm place. She doesn't want it to be too cold or too hot. Also consult the doctor about it.
