My husband is addicted to oxycodone and has been increasing his dose every year for the past five years. It is very worrying.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that, does he see it as a problem or is he in denial? Have you told him you're worried? X

Do you have a good GP? One that he can say all this to? One of the things I've learnt in the past 6 weeks of being off opiates is that they can exacerbate pain, they can make you hypersensitive to it, I had chronic back and joint pain, that's why I started taking it in the first place. Since I've stopped I have aches but not nearly as severe as while I was using. He's really not alone either and neither are you. I've discovered that this addiction is so very common with people self medicating left right and centre to get them through. If your GP is not as compassionate as they could be see if there's a local drugs rehab charity near you, I've been to one near me and it's been a lifesaver. Get advice, empower yourself with knowledge and fight this. X
