Happiness only lasts for so long

Me and my boyfriend had a BBQ yesterday. It was really fun and it went onto the early hours of the morning. I was actually happy for the first time in weeks and I wasn't thinking about all the other stuff.

But it only lasts so long. I'm not sure if it was-is the alcohol but this morning I woke up feeling horrible (and not hungover horrible) just generally feeling bad about myself again especially since one of my friends brought up a stupid thing I said a while back at another party that I've always felt bad about but was just starting to forget. He was joking but I still couldn't stop thinking about it and I feel bad about that now as well.

Only lasts for so long I guess!

Hi. Did you know that alcohol reduces the vitamins and minerals in your system and that itself can make you feel low, anxious or depressed? Then once your vitamins and minerals are topped up again that goes. If you have a hangover or headache taking about 2000 mg of magnesium often helps. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi, thanks for reading! I didn't know that at all so or affects even the day after? I'm not hungover at all so that's a plus but maybe that explains why I'm feeling so down

Yes it does explain it. It is always a good idea to take a few high dose multi vitamins and minerals when you drink and it can last a few days. One of the reason people can become heavy drinkers is because they get into a spiral where they drink - get very down - and then drink to get rid of that - and it goes on and on.

It will be all of 3 things, the alcohol, the comment and the fact that you are no longer at the BBQ having a good time. I find when I do something fun as soon as it's over (which for most people the change would barely be noticeable) we feel much lower simply because we're not engaged in a fun activity anymore.
