Hard lump on the roof of mouth

For a while now I have had a hard round flat lump in my mouth under my gums that can be felt with the tongue. It feels like a bony lump behind my back teeth, and every time I've felt it I've thought nothing of it. I would say it has been there for over a year, could be a lot longer but I can't remember. I have really bad health anxiety and have spent the past few years stressing about various symptoms for months at a time and have all of a sudden felt really worried that I have oral cancer.

I am fairly certain it is not a mucocele as I have one at the back of mouth that is tiny and inflates and deflates after eating, and this feels completely different. This is rock solid and completely immovable. It doesnt change in size and it does not hurt, even when applying a lot of pressure. I went to the dentist about this the other day, he said he does this think this presents any symptoms of oral cancer and that he is not worried in the slightest, however after questioning him lots about oral cancer he has referred me to have it checkout to 'put my mind at rest' - this has made me worry more! My referral is non urgent with a 8 week waiting time which is driving me crazy.

My concern is that this may be cancer of the minor salivary gland, as googling pictures shows lumps in a similar place.

I wondered if anyone could give me any insight or reassurance as to what this could be while I wait to see a specialist. I have posted a picture here:

Just thought I would update on this situation for anyone who comes across it while worrying. I eventually went to the dentist who referred me to the oral department at Adenbrookes Hospital who discovered it was a common bony lump and nothing to worry about. It has not got noticeably bigger in these 2 years.
