Hard lump where tonsils are

I know it's never a good idea to go prodding about at the back of your throat with your fingers but I was getting a dull ache in my left tonsillar region so i had a feel about there (in between gagging!)

On the left hand side, around the area where my palatine tonsil is, and right at the i can feel a hard lump. It is not present on the right hand side - that side felt soft and fleshy.

The hard lump felt like it was a bone or a bit of cartilage and was quite tender when i touched it. I have no idea if it's always been there or not, since I'm rarely poking about this area, obviously.

The pecular thing is that when I pressed on it, I could hear a crackling sound in my left ear.

My left ear has been feeling a bit "full" for about a week now, and I get the urge to 'pop' it.

My left TMJ has also been playing up lately (I grind my teeth) so don't know if it's all related.

Anyone any ideas?

Many thanks.

    It is all related.

Your eustacion tube is not functioning properly. And your tonsil is infected. I also think you may have otitis media.

Antibiotics from your physician should clear things up.

Did you get this checked? I've heard people say that before who have Eagle's Syndrome. You could be feeling your styloid. See you Dr!
