Hard stool every morning.

Im a 28 years old female, with chronic anal fissure for 6 years, got operated for fissurectomy 4 weeks back. Every thing went really good. Now the issue is every morning, the first part of the stool is hard, i have been taking psyllium every day so the stool is pretty soft except the first part. i dont know how to get rid of it, it makes me hurt a little, but if it goes on like this, im sure the fissure might get back. I was taking stool softners before, and got addicted to them, had to take them daily to poop, so after surgery i switched to psyllium. my diet is pretty good. lots of vegies, fibre and water. Has anyone of you suffered from the same problem. if yes? please guide me what to do. Also im trying to conceive so im scared if i start taking laxatives again i might get addicted.

have you tried miralax instead of a regular laxativ? miralax is gentle and uses the water in your body to keep stool soft too much can cause diarrhea but if you find the right amount like i had to back when i had my anal fissure after HET it works really well. i was on it for a long time never caused cramping or any awful side effects. i used the bathroom every morning on schedule and i have also heard its what doctors recommend for pregnancy constipation as less of the drug is absorbed by the body making it safer for use during pregnancy. It wont cause you to go uncontrollably. you can start off with less than the recommended dose as your stools are already mostly softer. i would start with probably a half of a half of a cap full. maybe even half of that lol. when i used it i never needed the full recommended dose. it puts water from your body into your poo so I'm curious if using a little every other day or every few days will help you with the initial hard passes by putting water into that part of the stool that's hard. i just put it in grits or oatmeal i also have put it in soup. its flavorless but can change a consistency but its like using any metamucil or fibre that you mix into anything.

aw im sorry 😕 i see someone mentioned magnesium citrate i used to get in in capsules for my dog who got into the cat box and couldnt use the bathroom properly for a while its could be a good option for you. since my anal fissure though i moved my dog to miralax as well so i havent used the citrate on her in a while the capsules beat drinking it im not sure how it works for a person though. i do know people who use teas to keep themselves regular as well.

i take laxido every night and prune juice.... cut down to one packet a day but im actually finding i cant control myself and have to run to the loo, I'm wondering if miralax might be better.

I'm wondering if the psyllium fibre might be scratching the lining of your rectum. I found it was causing me trouble with a my chronic fissure. Now I use Metamucil which doesn't seem to be as rough.

take magnesium citrate or oxide supplements. they are the perfect stool softeners. do not take more than the recommended amount and you can use them long term.
