Hardening inside finger

Posted , 6 users are following.

In August of 2019 i noticed a big bump in my pinky finger on my left hand , but it was soft and it got harder in a few weeks.

On October 31st 2019 i've had surgery on the finger :image

After the surgery the substance in the finger has been sent to lab. I was told it was an OK thing.

In April of 2020 I have noticed that same hardening starting in the same finger, in the same exact place, although this time i have noticed it much earlier and it hasn't hardened yet.

I will obviously go to the doctor when the quarantine ends, but i want to know what other doctors think of this. Thanks.

Doctors - in Europe at least - are still working so there is no reason not to speak to your primary care doctor There are no doctors on the forum - just other patients.

Did they not tell you what they think it is?

It looks like a ganglian although I may be wrong. In the good old days they used to say hit it with the family bible. My grandmother used to get them on her wrist and she had a small hammer to hit it with, I don't recommend that though! I think we have become more civilised and don't hit them any more!!

I saw my doctor and he said "oh it must be a ganglion cyst". Then I saw him 2 weeks later and there was no sign of it. He said it must be the PMR. I have had numerous "arisings" and find that they do resolve. I would not hit it, but massage helps.

I have had them intermittently on my wrist. I pressed them really hard and they did go away eventually.

I have actually had these lumps arise and over a period of 1 hour. Shocking. They will go away, but the ones on the fingers and the palms or backs of the hands are helped by massage. It is painful to massage, but eventually these go away in 2 or 3 weeks.
