has any body applied for depression -disability social security benefits in USA?

i recently came across the three depressive disorders which can qualify for disability social security benefits in United states... i have one of them as mentioned in an article on internet which states you can qualify for depression disability benefits, state funds you and gives many other benefits such as emotional support animal letter etc.. has anybody else even tried applying?
