Has any one heard of Disphasia being related to polymialgia

My daughter who is 38 has had fibromyalgia for a few year and found an artical on their web site about Disphasia . Terms I believe to be related that I have heard mentioned on our PMR web such as brain fog or as in my case , starting a conversation and forgetting the word that I need and then rabbiting on using other words to describe what I mean

I find this a bit scary . I some time teach art for a few hours a week . And I go to discuss an artist and I cannot think of a name or in my panic even a paint tipe . Does anyone else have this happen .

I was kept on the same level of prednisalone for 4 months because my ESR was static . Pred level was 9 mg this last ESR reading was 32 . I spoke with my GP and we agreed for me to start to lower the prednisalone slowely .

I havnt spoken to my doctor about Disphasia , or my simptons . Am I loosing the plot . Will it get better when I am off the steroid , hopefully in a year or so . Please someone out there give me some comfort I do not want to be the only one that has a brain ' sucking its thumb , and closing its eyes because it is sleepy .

Havnt found the need to come calling on this site for a while , which I guess is a good , and hope that anyone who remembers me are feeling a little better to .

Hope some one can tell me I am not alone with this problem 🙊

I don't know how old you are but that's what happens as we age.

I've just turned 79 and notice my problems with remembering words

on a daily basis.  I just put it down as part of the aging process and

find another word and move on.....no big deal for me....

Well for me it's my late 50's. But as Silver said I could just dito everything she said. I'm better when I swim but been decluttering house to sell for past 2 weeks so a little more ditcy than usual. I get the most obscure clue of my sps crossword puzzles yet other things forget it. Mariane

After a few good years I've just had a poly & fibro flare.  I distinctly noticed in the lead up that I was having trouble concentrating, getting confused easily and searching for words - and that's without being on meds.  So it may be more a symptom of poly rather than a side-effect of the pred.  I'm 46 - hopefully it's not age related.

Bless your heart Sam, I hope you feel better very soon.  May I ask if you noticed anything that might have brought on a flare after so long without? Were you extra stressed, or eating flammatory type foods, or have a cold or virus, or over worked body activity,...?

      Thanks.

Hi Carol, I was interested to read your post as I have been looking for info like this relating to my father.  In 2009 when he was 67 he was diagnosed with RA and put on methotrexate injections and corticosteroids.  He has been on them ever since.  Shortly after starting these treatments he started having difficulty recalling names and also difficulty with complex thinking.  Since then his speech has deteriorated to a rare few sentences although in many other ways he is still great although this year his symptoms did start to become more like dementia, no longer just about words.  I've been looking at 'steroid dementia' studies on the web - seems like it is something that requires more research.  I would love to know if it gets better when you go off the steroid.   - According to what I have read, it is reversible but can take some months. Prob too late for my dad if it is what caused his dementia though!
