[b:2f9c1a18f8]no cure at all for lichen planus. its such a rare disease very little has been researched and its not a deadly disease such as cancer. But it is such an annoying disease that i can understand how one might want to kill one self. the itching alone can drive a person to end it. just joking! Please if you hear of any cure let me know. after being in remission for 9 years, my lichan planus has returned.[/b:2f9c1a18f8]

as said above thier is no cure for this skin disorder..i have had what is known as flare ups 4 times in my 50 years.all the episodes seemed to come after paticulaly stressfull times in my life.now i know what it is by been correctly diagnosed the second time it happened,i dont hang about now i go straight to a dermatologist,as the local gps dont seem to understand it ,an they give you cream after cream,an nothing stops the intence itching, also if you leave it to run its cource, which can take up to 18 months each flare up,it can then leave brown marks where spots have been.the only thing i have found to work is a drug called cyclosporine, which within 4 days of taking it the itching an spots began to dissapear. you hav to be prescribed this drug by the dermatologist for usually 4 to 5 month,as it can come back if not run its cource.whilst on it you have to have blood tests every 2 weeks, just to make sure your body coping with this strong form of medication.however i can tell you after been in agony of intence itching on feet an arms an lower legs, where i used to cry,an worse at night in bed for some reason.i would never suffer this again,i would always seek a dermatologist to prescribe this drug. hope this helps all fellow sufferers x

      Hi Guppy 007

My daughter has LP on the inside of her knees and other areas on her leg. Hers is not itchy at all, it looks like a rash. We just started her on a homeopathic treatment, I think its the same as the one you had taken (has AA on the packet). I was so happy to see that there are others taking homeopathic treatment for LP. Could you please let me know how long you had been taking this medication and did it cure you?

Hi tox, I was diagnosed with LP many years ago and found Arsenicum album really effective, everything cleared up within 10 days..however I have struggled recently due to being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, its more aggresive, and now its a lot worse...currently I am treating myself for oral lichen planus, although I have it on my back slightly as well,..I have been taking 3 doses a day for three weeks now and it appears to be slowly going, but I am not there yet, it does seem to be working though...everyone reacts differently to things, and if your daughter is lucky she may find that Ars alb may work for her quickly.

The best tip would be to tell her to take it immediately upon waking, at least ten minutes before she brushes her teeth or eats..I like to take it well before putting anything else in my mouth, I take the 30c strength..

Thanks for ur immediate response. Our doc also said that it's mainly due to stress and strain.  I hope the medicine works for her. Thanks again.

How long does it take to work? What brand do you take and how frequently?

How is the Arsen Alb working for you and what brand have you went with?

Hi Dawn, I am using the drops, 15, twice a day, I'm in Latin America, so they tend to sell the drops here, the little pills work just fine too, its important not to eat anything 10 minutes before or after taking..I also avoid alcohol when I am taking these drops...after about a week, I am usually okay again...stress can make it worse, or even cause it.

I have recently started looking at other preventative natural products, and I have found Grapefruit Seed Extract tobe very very interesting..take a look at it.. I am going to order this on Amazon, far better to try to take something which will help stop a flare in the first place.

seed extract perhaps it'll work I will try anything at this point. I live in USA I had to go to a health food store

to purchase them. Thank you for all your help.

Remember less is more with homeopathy, dont take too many pills, the whole premise behind homeopathy is based on the idea of "Minimum Dose".

My OLP has been acting up since last September when I was first diagnosed and I can't seem to get it to go away. I can get it calmed down. I have tried prescription mouth washes, oral steroids, perioscience kit, some other topical jell, they all make it better, but then it gets worse. It is kind of like my tissue gets used to it and fights back. I am currently using a magic mouth wash which is a few things combined. There are a lot of different ways to make it. I requested that it have a topical lidocaine which numbs my mouth well enough that I can brush and floss with very little pain. Effects last about 45 min so I use it then wait 30 min then brush my teeth. There is an antibiotic in the rinse.

My dentist and pharmacist created my prescription together.

I also stopped using toothpaste. My sister has been a hygienist for 20 years and she says that you don't

need to use anything other than a tooth brush to clean your teeth. So I have gone old school and just use a

Very small amount of baking soda.( I need something to push around.)Even though it is a salt base it does not sting my mouth and I think that it is helping to keep the OLP calmed down. I also do warm salt water rinses 4 to 5 times a day. So things are getting better.

She also says that they are finding that the specialty tooth pastes are tearing up people's gums and if you have to use a tooth paste use the plain paste.

Hi , I had LP few months ago, and it was pretty bad on my lower legs.  I took Prednisone pills for a month and half, and Cortisone cream.  I also took antibitic pills at the same time. It did miracle and the rash faded away.  I was left with dark ugly scars.  I used Retin A.  It really irritated my skin for two weeks and it peeled off all dark skin.  It is painful but you need to think it is only for few weeks and it makes it easier.   Now I have new fresh skin and the pigmentation is almost gone.  I also will be taking Accutane at the end of this month.  It helps to rebuild skin.  Meanwhile Avacado and vitemin C will also help.   My LP was caused by overdose vitmemin D.  It was like candy and I did  not read the details and got myself in trouble.

Hope this information helps you as it did to me.  Cheers.
