I have been doing some research online and come across some interesting posts. Was wondering, whether anyone with LS has tried and had success/relief with one of Perrin's creams??

Thank You..

Earlier posts were not in favor.  I myself have, on these recommendations, never used it.

I have tried it (I have bought/tried every thing I have read about on this forum)

I actually like it a lot.  I don't use it all the time, or even every week.  But sometimes if I feel that something is brewing...I will put it on.  The thing that I think is wonderful, is emuaid.  I read about that here, too.  It is expensive...to me...but it is wonderful.  I was afraid to try it, since there is so much said about not using anything that is untried or Dr. recommended.  But I use emu oil every single day, after every bathroom visit...and it is absolutely great, so I bought the emuaid.  It is so very soothing.  I don't use either in place of the steroid, but I only use the steroid twice a week now, so I use either emu oil or emuaid, depending on if my bottom feels a bit iffy...like something may be going on.  I went completely sugar free for about 3 mos, but a week ago went to the beach and I didn't eat any sugar, but did eat bread, pizza, etc. which I know has sugar.  I haven't had any reaction at all...and am back on my no sugar routine.  I really think that has made the biggest difference.  I have no flare ups at all.  I had a real scare about 2 mos ago, and got to see a vulvar specialist about it.  She said there was damage from the clobetasol, and told me to stop using it, but she prescribed a milder steroid, and told me exactly where to use it.  The damage cannot be undone...but it is not as bad as I had feared it would be.  So, using emuaid, emu oil, perrins cream, coconut oil, and the new steroid....(not all at once  :o)  )   Oh, and I do the baking soda spray every day, too.  Right now I am in good shape.  I hope this helps your decision making.   whew.  Long letter, right??

Hi Patricia--Thanks for all of info. I'm curious though what makes your vulvar specialist conclude that the clobestasol has caused damage since LS can directly cause damage, too. I've not heard of the steroid being held responsible for the LS damage--worrisome!  --Suzanne

Patricia. This information helps... a lot... Thank you for taking the time to respond and talk about what has been helpful and what hasn't.... At this point it is a steep learning curve and I appreciate all info I can get....

I will also make the baking soda spray and incorporate this into my daily routine... I've been so sore and miserable the past few weeks. This when it is flared up is a very uncomfortable condition...

I have tried both perrins and emuaid i too prefer the emuaid.  Also curious about the comments on dermovate (clob) i could not live without this, if i get a bad flare up its the only thing that truly helps but a milder problem is relieved with the emuaid i think they can compliment each other.

Thank you Jackie. EmuAid will be the first choice besides coconut oil and steroid cream...

hello all...this is my first opportunity to write again.  The dr. I was sent to to do biopsy to determine if I had LS, had been treating me for 2 yrs now.  A few months ago, I saw that the opening to the cervicx was closing, rapidly!  I panicked.  I went back to the dr. and she was talking surgery...I did not want surgery.  She said at that visit that I could use clob. every day, and any time I felt any sort of twinge, to put on clob.  I did.  After she said "surgery"  I was determined not to have surgery.  I found a vulvar clinic in Greenville, SC, and one dr. there was a specialist in LS.  Why didn't I think of finding her before???  Oh, yeah.  I assumed I was getting the only treatment for LS.   Anyway, I got an appt. with this new dr. and she said the clob had caused permanent damage to the area behind the opening to cervicx...the skin had become paper-y...the rest of the bottom was in good shape...just two small lines of whitish skin on vagina.  She took me off clob. and put me on another steroid, not as strong.  I blame the first dr. for telling me I could use the clob every day if I wanted, and to use it any time I felt any little twinge...if I hadn't done that, I am sure the clob. would still be fine and I wouldn't have had to go to a less strong steroid.  She took a photo of my bottom!!  I told  her I always run from cameras, but this time I was in no position to run....anyway, she takes photos of all patients and compares area on the next visit.  Also she used the photo to show me exactly where to use the steroid and ONLY twice a week...the first dr. had me still on three times a week, plus anytime I felt I could use it.

all in all...I wish I had sought out a vulvar clinic sooner.  I only assumed because I live in a small town, there would be no such thing.  True, the clinic is about an hr and a half away, but it was very worth it.

So far everything is fine and under control and I have no itching or pain or burning at all....but I also cut out sugar, and I do believe that is a main reason for holding the LS at bay...(I also lost 10 lbs)

me again..by the way, for the past few months I no longer get any replies from this forum.  All I get is when someone starts a new discussion.  Before, I had a notice in my email that someone had replied to a discussion.    Am I the only one who has lost the notice of a new reply?
