HELLO, i am very sorry to hear your news. As far as i am aware this means cancer of unknown primary .

I am assuming they have found metastasis? but as for now they are unsure/aware of where the primary site of cancer could be.

I would urge you to return to your consultant or phone the secretary and say that you do not understand fully the diagnosis and get him/her or a cancer specialist nurse to explain everything so you are sure you are happy with the information. ANY DIAGNOSIS like this is hard hitting and it is very common for patients to require more information as you have time to digest. The best website is macmillan.org.uk they have a wealth of information that wont scare you and can help you formulate questions about your treatment/care. The site also answers alot if questions to.

    all the best

In some ways it is not unusual. Since the primary is unknown, the first symptoms you get are metastases. In cancer diagnoses as a whole, it is not that common.
