Has anyone developed pulsatile tinnitus in peri menopause?

After 30 years of migraines, and 10 years on propranalol, i decided a month ago to come off it.  Did it correctly, but a week after stopping, had all the symptoms of a heart attack.  Back on it, and things were settling down, but I seem to have developed pulsatile tinnitus about 2 weeks on from that. I am not sure what is menopause and what is not... I don't even want to think about a heart connection, but does anyone else have this? It's really depressing me as it seems to be one thing after another.

pulsatile tinnitus is when you can hear your heartbeat in your ear... it's awful... constant thumping in yr ear that matches yr heartbeat.

I have tinnitus in my right ear and still take propranolol. I didn't know the two were associated.

They can be.  Your anti inflammatories can all cause tinnitus.

Yes!! I have had anxiety and mild(ish) depression for about 30 years. SInce turning 40, (I am 48 now) I have had pusatile tinnitus on and off - especially noticeable at night or when it is quiet. It is horrible! I mentioned it to the doctor but he looked in my ear and said nothing was wrong (d'uh!). I find it is worse at the start of an anxiety episode but wears off as I start to calm doen, but it usually lasts about 3 months at a time. Like you, I can't tell if symptoms are age related or just my anxiety condition. It probably does not matter what is causing it so long as we get through it! Keep in touch xx

thanks Dawn. It's awful.  Between heart palpatations and hearing them skipping beats due to the PT, it's enough to make anyone anxious! I findwhen I am very active or anxious, it is worse.  I sometimes take Lorazapam to calm me and it down! It just started out of the blue one day! I have had normal tinnitus for as long as I can remember, and yes ( as someone mentioned above) it is worse with nurofen and probably worsened by it as I was a chronic migrainer till about 1 month ago, when I found someting that works, so no more nurofen! But I think it's done the damage already darn it.  Great to hear from you and thanks so much for commenting!
