Has anyone else changed from Prozac to Sertaline?

I had been on 20mg Fluoxetine for 11months for depression they worked brilliant to start with, but in the last few months I started to fall in that black hole again and couldn't look at anything positively and kept crying, couldn't sleep so the doctor changed me to Sertaline. I stopped taking my Prozac last Thursday and started on 50mg Sertaline on Monday so it's day 4 and it hasnt lifted my mood at all but I thought because I went from one to another but being different it would affect my mood near enough straight away but I still fill very flat. And they do make me feel very sick most of the day. Will they still need the 4-8 wks to have an affect?

    Hi Karen

    Sorry you feel so bad,I don't know about changing meds, I do know that as you probably know they take a while to kick in.Does it say on the information sheet that they can cause nausea,maybe it is something at first but if it gets that bad maybe go back to your GP or ask a pharmacist I find them very good about medication. Keep posting on here it does help to know you are not alone.Take Care.

    Hi Karen, I found prozac didn't work at all and am now on Sertraline. I am not exactly buzzing but it does help me sleep but kind of leaves you flat emotionally. On my depression scale of 0 being suicidal and 10 being euphoric it puts me about 5/6 which is better than where I was a few weeks ago

    I'm on day ten of Sertraline and I don't feel any different, the first time I took Prozac I felt it working after a few weeks and I gradually felt myself again,and in control of myself. I was off it for just over a year and then had to go back on it it worked but not like it did the first time I felt calm and it lifted my spirits for a while but then 9 months down the line I felt so low and felt as though I was slipping back into that black hole, so doctor swapped me to Sertraline and like I said I really can't tell if it's working. I feel disengaged flat no energy. Is it to early for them to affect me even though I only had a two day break from stopping my Prozac to starting these?
