Has anyone ever had lymph nodes remain permanently enlarged after a bad cold/infection?

a little over a year ago i had a terrible upper respiratory infection and a couple weeks after antibiotics had 8 lymph nodes pop up under my jaw (2) along the the front left of my neck (2) and along my left back side of my neck (4) these all feel small but Ultrasound has shown several more nodes deeper in enlarged as well (many over a cm like 1.7cm) this has me worried. i did recently find out one was once over 2cm and shrunk to 1.5 cm so thats great news but still doctors are saying my nodes most likely 'scarred' and will take a long time to recover if they ever do. anyone else ever had a node not recover and shrink from a cold etc?
