Well, maybe I am a little early for this based on your use of the word "persistent" but I'll respond anyway and will be very interested to hear what other people say. I am seven weeks and one day after my surgery. At the moment I am quite depressed and discouraged. I was hoping for a good result because I am only 56 and in good health otherwise.
Other than a UTI that resolved in 48 hours, everything seemed great for about the first 3 weeks (I replied to one or two of your posts saying things were going well). My doctor told me before surgery that my biggest worry post-surgery would be chipping the back of the toilet. I did have a strong stream for about the first week, but the local toilets are safe. As of today, my stream is similar to pre-surgery while taking one Flomax per day. It's sluggish.
As I write this, I don't feel like I got much benefit from the surgery. At least as of the last doctor's visit 2.5 weeks ago, I was still emptying my bladder more effectively than pre-surgery. But overall the volume my bladder can hold has been steadily decreasing. I have actually been measuring this and the volumes are now only slightly more than pre-surgery.
My biggest issue is that when I feel the need to pee, I have found that I must get to a bathroom immediately. I have actually wet my pants several times over the past few weeks, including when I was in the elevator in my office building. This never happened to me before surgery, so in this respect I am worse than pre-surgery.
