Has anyone found Diazepam helpful?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I'm just over 5 weeks into taking Sertraline and have yet to notice a significant difference. I've been prescribed 5mg diazepam for the really bad days. Has anyone who's taken this found it helpful and was it hard to stop taking it? My concerns are it won't make much difference or that I'll get addicted to it.

    Hello Sarah,

In my experience the diazepam/ Xanax can help to take the edge of those bad days, but I find distraction exercises can work just as well too... (reading, watching a movie, housework, going for a walk, writing my feelings out etc)

I personally limit its use to a last resort, after all other techniques have failed, and never no more than 3x a week.

    Hope this helps 🌹

I have Alprazolam for my bad days. It will get better for you. I was more anxious when I started taking my pills ( which is a side effect). It is getting better though. Take it one day at a time.

How far are you along Nicole? I feel like I should be noticing some difference by now after more than 5 weeks. I don't mind using the diazepam if I know it's only going to be a short time, just hoping I'll feel better soon. X

I am in 4 weeks. I started at 25mg and after 6 days went up to 50mg and now 5 days ago went up to 75mg. It can take 6-8 weeks for its effect. Have you talked to your doctor about upping your dosage?

I started at 50mg and I'm now up to 100mg, so hoping I won't need to go any higher. They talk about increasing it but I'd rather wait until I see an improvement before I increase any more.

What is holding you back from upping your dose if you need to?

Hi Sarah I was prescribed diazepam 5mg for the very bad days at the beginning of taking Sertraline. My Doctor would only prescribe 6 tablets so I took one each evening. It definitely helped relax my thoughts but it is highly addictive so beware of it. I haven't taken it again and am now starting my 5th week on Sertraline. I'm not back to my full self but compared to how I was in the first 2 weeks I feel quite a lot better. Hang in there and keep reading. X

I have been taking diazapham for 15 years. In the beginng i was totally in panic attack mode. It would wake me up at 2 in the morning. Thank God my aunt was a nurse and found out about them. She would talk me down from wit the help of diazapham. In the last 4 or 5 years only use it when i get a bad day. My doctor today told me she would not subscribe them any more even though i take 1 a month. Something that took effect July 1st the government is montering meds from all doctors and she can see what my other doctors prescribed. This is what is happing to us who use as needed as those ate addicted. We get the shaft.
