Has anyone got any feedback on Amitriptyline, good or bad?

Hi all. I seem to be suffering with anxiety first thing in the morning even if I've managed to get a reasonable amount of sleep. I do wake in the night a few times and manage to get off to sleep again providing I have nothing worrying me e.g something happening the next day that I'm nervous about. I'm reluctant to start taking sleep meds again as I feel they only mask the problem. But I feel like I'm cornered. Help anyone, your advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi

My doctor gave me Amitriptyline over two months ago,he gave me one months supply.I suffered from anxiety and was having trouble sleeping.I was waking up several times during the night. It worked for me,I too was reluctant to take it but it worked for me.When I came off it I didnt get any sleep and was back to feeling anxious.I went back on it on Friday and slept right through the night.Today I got up at 8:30 and feel calm and rested. You don not have to stay on them for ever,I did try alternative remedies but they did not work.Everyone is different I know but It did work for me.My doctor only gives me 28 tablets and then my doctor reviews it.All the best.

Hi Millie. Thanks for your reply. I'm going to start 10mg tonight. I really hope it works. Anything I take seems to interfere with my sleep, fingers crossed this won't. How long did it take to get rid of your anxiety? Cheers  n x
