I had my PAE with Dr Bagla in March 2017. Completely covered by Medicare and my supplemental (AARP). However I did talk with another facility while doing my research and they said that Medicare would not cover it.

Great news. Dr Bagla and Issaccson said the same thing. I live in CA and need to know more about Dr Picel and their experience. So far no one has commented

Interesting. When I talked with Dr Isaacson's office over a year ago, they said Medicare would not cover it. Maybe they fixed that somehow.

What changed is the FDA approval of injected embolism particles

Did you try to contact Dr Picel ? I did. He was very responsive. Hank

Yes I have contacted staff. I want to know if anyone has been treated by him and their results as well as Medicare payment. Can you comment on these items?

Did you have him do a procedure?

      If not, why not?

Do you know anything about his track record?

I contacted him directly via email. He advised me to wait until Dec 2018 when I will have Medicare, which he said is paying. Hank

As a FDA approved study we also have CMS approval to bill medicare. So far medicare has payed for patients for the procedure. Private insurances are hit and miss. Some will approve and some do not yet pay for the procedure. Those that are not paying at this time, likely will start in the next few years as the procedure becomes more common.

This is a long shot: There is a very active prostate cancer support group in San Diego, the Informed Prostate Cancer Support Group. Maybe contact them to see if any of their members have had experience w/ Dr Picel. I can PM you the website if you have trouble locating it.

I am surprised also. They have a wealth of info and support options for PCa. I'm assuming he wasn't familiar with Dr. Picel.
