Has anyone had a Urolift Clip removed?

Just wondering if anyone has had to have a Urolift clip removed and could share the experience.I need to get one out later this month and kind of wondering what to expect. I have done a fair amount of google searches and not found much so maybe it doesn't happen all that often. I'm not going to the same doctor that did the procedure, he is way more interested in the money that comes from doing 10 back to back precedures in his office in a day, than fixing a screw up that would take him out of the office for a single procedure.
I'm glad Urolift works for some people and spares them the alternatives, and I realize that every procedure has risks, this time I was in the unlucky group.

I have to have a cystoscopy next month as after urolift 8 months ago I have a constant pain and occasional blood in semen. Also a lot of retained urine - 260ml. It is possible a clip is responsible for the pain and blood as I never had that before the procedure.
I think all that can be done is to cut off the end of the urolift in the urethra which removes tension but still leaves the cord and the other end in there. To dig the other end out would mean cutting into your flesh somewhere; I think they'd just leave it in.

Hi Ben
Yes I have.
I initially had 8 urolift tags inserted. About 6 months later, I was checked out as I was having some trouble and the surgeon removed one tag and inserted two more. As far as I remember he said that the tag he removed maybe was causing problems because it was close to the bladder.
I am told that people who have HOLEP after Urolift have all their tags removed first.

Do you know if he had to do a partial TURP to remove it?I had a CT Scan that showed the clip in the bladder neck. Then I had a cystoscopy to confirm it, so I think the doctor screwed up when he originally did the procedure. Now I am experience lots of bleeding after work outs so I think the clip is cutting into the bladder and moving a bit causing the bleeding. There were also some bleeding spots in the bladder so I am having a bladder biopsy to rule out cancer. Its possible that the clip protruding into the bladder is causing the other injuries.
I think if they remove it immediately during the procedure they can easily pull it out but after a few months it kind of heals over and that makes it more challenging. I do want to get a second opinion before the procedure but wanted to know what others have experienced.

Well in my case, it seemed to easy for him to remove although it was after 6 or 7 months. But I think that it may be more difficult in some cases. My prostate grew enormously after the Urolift and I think that some clips may now be obscured.
But I am sure that I was told that Holep requires the initially removal of the tags and a 'partial TURP' (whatever that is) sounds too drastic to me - I am no urologist and you must find a more informed opinion.
Best of luck

Just joined this forum and am willing to share my experience with BPH and Over-Active-Bladder (OAB) issues. Now in my late 70s and have had a frequent urination problem most of my life before my prostate became started to make it worse. Tried many medicines for BPH including Ditropan, Repaflo, Darifenacin, and Cialis etc. without any improvement. Had side effects that I could not live with including retro ejaculation with Flomax and Repaflo. After experiencing retro ejaculation I decided I did not want a procedure like TURP that would make it permanent. A year ago I tried Mybetric for OAB and it helped a lot for about 6 months. I told my Urologist I was OK with my flow but after 2 Cystoscopy's and bladder pressure tests he suggested that Urolift would help improve the flow and relieve the bladder.
Had the Urolift done (5 Clips) two and half months ago and my flow rate is worse and my frequency to urinate is worse. I also now have a little burning sensation at times in the prostate area without urinating. I went back on Mybetric for the last three weeks to see if it would help and it has not. I see my Urologist this week and am wondering what he will suggest now. He mentioned if this did not work the clips on the inside of the ureatha could be removed. I am now concerned about scar tissue and if the clips on the inside that cannot be removed will cause problems. I am concerned if there is scar tissue left from the removal that will make the flow rate worse, and maybe he won't do the removal without during TURP or some other invasive procedure.
I will provide feedback after my visit since the Doctor Web Sites only provides positive feedback and this web site presents the truth about what is really happening to patients. I hope I can help with my experiences and this site will provide some feedback to help me.

Hi Ben, I would like to know if you got the urolifts removed. I had 5 of them implanted and developed allergy (I am allergic to nickel) and want the implants to be removed; but my urologist is trying to avoid doing that. I would like that both the urethral and prostate capsule ends to be removed
