My gynaecologist says that my Lichen is so advanced that I may need surgery. Has anyone had this done. None of the medications have worked.

I've had dilation procedure done, which is less harmful than surgery. Ask your doctor about this possibility.

Together with baking soda baths and rinses, later borax baths and rinses, I managed to become fully functional again. The fusing gradually disappearing altogether.
I still follow the same routine, though less frequent than in the earlier stages and have kept LS very manageable.

Immediately after the dilation procedure at the hospital I was so afraid all would fuse again that I did my dilation four to five times a day. I was also afraid of possible infection, that's when I started with baking soda rinses. Gradually I gained the confidence to go to three times a day, then two times and so on. Once a day for a long time, then every other day. I'm now at - once in three days. And it is still necessary that I do this. I think I'm in my fourth year with this LS, after official diagnosis. Spread that out over a beginning period where I only used clobetasol. Then became totally fused up. Dialation procedure followed and I went from there. As lubricant I used coconut oil.

I am trying to find out more about how to unfuse.

For me the use of baking soda and later borax worked for the unfusing. See the discussion "An Experiment with Borax."

My clitoris has disappeared. The gynaecologist says the only way I will ever see it again would be if I had surgery. I don't intend to do that.

Yes I had a Fentons procedure where they surgically enlarge the opening, it was ok & not too painful, unfortunately though for me it didn't make much improvement & eventually healed up / shrunk again & I've never been able to insert the larger two dilating 'tubes' without splitting my skin I was offered the operation again but have declined this for the time being
It can lie dormant for up to ten days between flare ups but I'm resigned to never having interckourse again

Hi all nothing has worked for me that's far all of the barrier things, ointments even some steroids. I'm in so much pain from The Ripping and the tearing and the bleeding I don't know if anything can be done surgery. I have been told that I have vaginal occlusion in the back it has not reached my clitoris or my urethra yet but I am told the surgery cannot be done until my flare-up goes away almost a year and I cannot get it to go away. I am at my wit's end. Somebody please help me
