Has anyone had their wpw cause svt? I smoked and it cause an svt episode and had to go the hospital to slow down my heart rate. Went up to 170. I've smoked in the past and it never has caused me any heart racing. I swear I haven't been the same since. I've been taking metoprolol ER for almost 4 days to slow down the heart rate. So far it hasn't gone passed 130. Other question is how long does it take to kick in? Or is that all that's gonna help me with?

How long did it stay at 170 and how do did you measure your heart rate? Have you been diagnosed with wpw pattern or wow syndrome? Did you have a stress test to see if wpw pattern is still there during exercise? Have you ever wore a heart monitor? Smoking is obviously not good but I don't think it should make your heart rate 170 but I'm not a doctor.

I don't remember I think for more then 20 mins. I have wpw syndrome. The weird thing is on one EKG it didn't show up. So my cardio thinks it might me slow but there's no way of finding out unless they do a ep study. No they haven't they were supposed to call me to see if my insurance approved that study. No they haven't gave me a monitor to wear, all I know is I'm going on Tuesday to talk about the ablation.
