First of all I'm new to this ear situation. No history of ear problems.
I had Myringoplasty in my left ear due to ruptured eardrum because of an assault. Unfortunately I got a cold the week after surgery. This has caused pressure changes in my right good ear after I got better from the cold. Since then when I eat, drink or simply swallowing my saliva I can hear crackling noises in that good ear. No pain or infection, but it has gone terribly annoying!
I have seen my ENT Doctor, he simply prescribed me with cold medicine. That was 2 weeks ago, the crackling still happening. How do I get back to normal?

Sorry you've joined this club. My ear issues stared 8 months ago. I've had some improvement with flonase and astelin, but still have major issues with pressure changes and have the crackling as well. You should also get evaluated for tmj.

Hi thanks for your response 😊
I have been taking vitamins recently, it cleared the pressure feeling immediately and somehow reduced the crackling sound. I mean the crackling is on and off, but not so often as it was before. I think it's improving, hope it will get better in time

If it is Eustachian tube dysfunction a nasal spray should help.

I have had that feeling in my ears too. My left ear is like this off and on and I think it is Eustachian tube dysfunction and fluid that comes and goes. Sometimes a decogestant helps me when I hear the fluid and crackling sounds. My other thought is that you could see an ear specialist , otologist, they are a specialized ear nose and throat Doctor that only sees ear patients. They are harder to find but well worth the effort Hope this helps. You are not alone. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sorry to hear of your ear problems, I hope you and everyone else find solutions. I'm still clear etd wise since July, but the good old British winter will test this when all the bugs start multiplying! Thanks for your advice and prayers.

Sorry that you've been dealing with this for years. And yes I've been prescribed with so many types of medication by my ENT Doctor since May. Antibiotics, antihistamines, painkillers etc you name it lol
I don't feel any fluid in the ear though, only clicking. The pressure feeling has cleared completely when I started taking vitamins, and it also reduced the crackling sound. I'm glad that it seems improving. I did have to cut off caffeine and tried to eat more healthier.
Yesterday I went to see my ENT Doctor for a post-op follow up of my left ear, I also told him that my right ear still making sounds. He prescribed me with antihistamine. Think it helped reducing it more now, though it's too soon to tell. Will see how it goes
