Has anyone have an ongoing UTI

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have had a uti for the last 3 years and was treated with different antibiotics, one being nitrofuriton..

In January this year I had a seizure and rushed me to hospital where it was discovered I had a tumour that was removed from my brain. This had been growing for 3 years. Fortunately it was benign. But the antibiotic I was given made the tumour worse.

I am at home recovering but urge everyone who has an ongoing uti to have an MRI scan. I didnt get this option, hence I became very ill.

Apparently this happens quite a lot. I don't want to frighten anyone but if you have a uti that DOSNT go away then insist on more tests.

The problem has effected my red blood cells making me anaemic and very tired.

I was wrongly diagnosed and want people to be aware of this.

    Hi girl!

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, you are right, doctos treat UTI symptoms with little attention. Since most of the UTIs clear after standard antibiotics, physicians do not take time to research any particular case. It is easier for them to prescibe what's known time after time, than look into a root cause.

    Hope you are feeling better

I am feeling a bit better. I didn't get the UTI because of the Brain Tumour but I truly believe that anti biotics can make things worse if you have other issues that Doctors may not know of.

A full body MRI I think should be given on the NHS every 2 years from the age of 50. But UTI's can be a cause of something else. Thank you for wishing me well Anastasia and Vicky, sometimes I find that Homepathic options are better. smile

    HI, Applebee31,

I am very glad that you recoevered from the brain tumor. My question is that did your UTI disappear after the surgery? I am thinking that it was the UTI that caused the tumor in the brain because I learned from aurrounding that acouple of women who suffered the UTI ended up with the brain tumor.

I also had the UTI over three years. Whenever the UTI occurred, my brain was foggy and my motor movement was affaced too. My TUI got controlled now, and my brain is lear too. But thank you for your post, I may also get a brain MRI.
