HAS ANYONE RECOVERED WITH BOTOX?

Hi all,
It is interesting to me that so many physicians tend to avoid performing LIS until the very end.
Has anyone recovered with Botox?
Conversely, has anyone had a bad experience with LIS?
Thank you, in advance for sharing.

Hi chris6000, my surgeon didn't recommend me the botox. He recommended LIS strait away as my condition was very bad. Last week I went to the ER with non stop bleeding from the fissure. It depends on your condition, if its a small tear it can help. Only you know, you can try the botox and then decide what fits for you.

Hi
that worries me too...one specialist wants to do a camera first, the other (private) wants to do botox under general plus camera and sort out any internal piles to be banded while there. All for the bargain price of £3500 which is money i dont gave really, especially if it doesn't work, i have 3 tears....
Nothing i can do until June anyway....
interested to see other experiences

My surgeon offered me the choice of botox or LIS, i wanted to try the more conservative approach first and it worked well for a while, but 5 months after surgery the botox is wearing off and the fissure is back so i'm looking at LIS. still think i made the right decision at the time. i wish you a speedy recovery!

Yorkie47, thank you for the info on your experience. I'm wishing you the best on your decision and please share as you continue the process.
I've had a fissure and experienced the pain for 6 months. Tried all the creams. From all my research and experimentation I think that healing the fissure is dependant on several factors for which Botox and LIS are (can be) one variable. It is absolutely important to achieve bulky and regular BMs. Not pushing. Cleaning afterward with a shower waterjet and periodic sitz bath. Moderate aerobic exercise (walking not jogging) to keep digestion regular. Decrease stress.
At the beginning my pain was everyday severe and debilitating. However, at present time by practicing all of the above, I have good and bad days. So maybe it is healing. Finally, the depth and extent of the fissure will determine the need for Botox, LIS or none at all.
Please stay in touch to share you experience. The solution requires shared feedback from the patient community. It is frustrating that so many people are suffering with this affliction, yet the medical community seems to be lacking better treatments.

hi Chris, thank you for the advice, i totally agree with all the tips you mention - i have also found stress, running and straining all make it worse and agree it's hard to believe in 2020 that there isn't a better medical solution. best wishes

Surgery was a quick process. more worries than anything else.
Chose a surgeon with lots of experience.
Was put asleep and woke up 30 minutes later it was done.
The next 3 days were painful because of the swelling but not.as.painful as prior to surgery.
With proper nutrition, sitz bath and lots of walking, it took about 3 weeks to manage the healing process and keep everything clean.
much improvement day by day, slow process but no regrets with surgery

I was wandering myself.
Doctors opinions in NYC are so divided. Some say they don't believe in Botox at all and they are not preforming it,and others recommend it before everything else. But I can not find not even one comment where someone is confirming that botox works!
I've just ordered CBD oil for myself...I thought I may try it since it relaxes the spasm, and it's good for the pain and anxiety. For me it is stress related,I'm sure.

I would agree that the pain causes some on going anxiety that becomes a main part of the issue.
Even once the pain is manage, the psychological stress remained for some time.

Ana, thanks for your thoughts. I don't know much about CBD oil but it seems like it is worth a try.
Regarding the Botox vs LIS. I think the Botox option is better for the surgeons but not the patient. For the surgeons, even a small chance of success is worth it because there is no risk of incontinence. However for the patient, he/she has to endure the Botox procedure, pain, recovery and a 2-3 month wait to see if it works. In the likely event Botox does not work, all of that cost is incurred by the patient, and the clock resets for an LIS.
I may be cynical but no one has indicated Botox worked for them.
