My dermatologist put me onto accutane about 8 months ago now. I feel like it has kind of kept the lesions under control, but not stopped them! I get fewer sores, but they still arise. I am actually thinking of going off it. I don't know if my dermatologist or many dermatologists in fact know exactly how to treat HS, and probably don't follow up and try to figure out how to treat it. I often feel my dermatologist just thought this medicationg MIGHT work, but in fact hasn't really changed much. That's just me though smile Make sure you stock up on good moisturisors and creamy lip balms as this medication totally dried out my skin!

Have to agree with most of the replies Accutane is a last resort for hackney in teenagers, it has little or no effect on HS. I was put on it and it had no effect for me, the only way to go is find a surgeon who can perform plastic surgery which i did and have been free for over 12yrs.
