Has anyone tried alternative remedies for COPD including natural steroids

Hi Everyone,

Your posts on here have really helped me, so a BIG thank you for that.  Sadly, it would seem that many of you are a lot worse off than me and here I am, 70 years young and I started smoking when I was ten years old!!!

I feel that I have my condition under control as well as possible but I wondered if any of you have taken natural remedies that help.  In particular, has anyone taken natural alternatives to steroids such as Turmeric, curcumerin being the active ingredient that is supposed to help as an anti-inflammitory?  I would love to hear from you .  I must add that I took 30mg Co-Codamol prescribed by my doc for sciatica and I strongly believe that it caused me to have a massive flare up.  I now only take advice from my local "Rocket" team who are specialists in this subject and I now feel safe.

I really do wish all of you the very best.  xxx

I'm sure there are folks who have used tobacco products their whole life and never had a problem with shortness of breath. That would be a true blessing. I found that Eucalyptus extract (4 drops in 8 0z of very hot water) & using a towel over your head and breathing the mist helped.

I remember my first flare-up 13 years ago. The doctor told me it was only the tip of the iceberg and I wasn't listening. Damn - he was right. Good luck and I wish you all the best in your breathing travels..

    You are very lucky Dianne,

My huffing and puffing is very depressing to me,however you must stop smoking again.

In answer to using tobacco. I sure enjoyed smoking as well as drinking beer. Over my lifetime I did quit smoking a total of 8 yrs out of 45 yrs. I always went back to old habits. So here I am today sucking in oxygen, albuterol, advair, spirvia, and the pills, thinking to myself how that karma can be unkind.

With the way I breath today no way could I light a cigarette. No smoking and drinking now for two years and I do feel much better than I did. So if suddenly I were cured would I again head for the pub and buy a pack of cigarettes on the way? My answer would be 'NO'.
