I admit, i missed the obvious. Do they work?

How about tea?

Coffee?

How many cups are you drinking? Do they help?

Myself-can't tolerate caffeine at all so wouldn't want to try energy drinks. No coffee or tea but i do have the odd hot chocolate. Feel i can get a boost but the sugar can make me feel worse.

Caffeine is a toxin that your body has to eliminate, which takes energy. Even before I got sick I couldn't drink coffee, it just made me feel ill and sort of "polluted" rather than giving me energy. That said, I do enjoy weak black tea and sometimes it gives me a little energy boost. But other times it makes me feel sick like coffee did. It might just be the fluids that is boosting my energy, I don't really know. I wouldn't recommend energy drinks personally, you're just putting toxins into your body.

I’d be so careful , you may feel better initially but you may be spending all your energy at once and be in for a bad run !

    Hi

I never have anything with caffeine in it. Doesn't have a good effect on me. I have a couple of friends who also have ME who tolerate it ok in the form of coffee. Not sure it actually gives them energy though. Just elates them a bit. You need to be wary of energy drinks and the amount of caffeine they contain. Another friend's brother, not an ME sufferer, ended up with heart issues due to the frequent amounts of energy drinks he consumed. In addition, this type of drink is short lived in it's effect. Then, so I have been informed , a slump in energy results. As with everything , everyone is different and I am sure someone else will offer a different opinion of experience .

    Thanks for the replies!

A Dr. said that some have T3 thyroid hormone, and i did not know that T3 might be in them. Many body functions are stimulated by T3.  Since my cfs was due to low T3 free, i totally missed the whole idea. Glad to read I'm not the only one that thought they were all just sugar and caffene. LOL

I'm back to drinking 1 cup of tea with breakfast. not for energy, it doesn't do anything. My ferritin is too high and tea and coffee are said to reduce ferritin.

Low thyroid causes low pulse and low blood pressure. In the US, they say this is good. But in Germany, they correctly diagnose low pulse as a disease, and treat it. I'm in the US, that is why i had CFS so long.
