Has anyone tried any Health Retreats or Wellness Resorts ?

I have so much going on around me at the moment,so I feel the need to slink off to some secluded place, to be by myself, to eat healthily, to do yoga/stretches, eat, sleep, read and have massages to help deal with daily pain. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced Health Resorts that do not do daily colonics and deal with fitness fanatics ? I am thinking about somewhere in Asia maybe, where they may have some miracle healing hands and food to help soothe my aching body.confused

Morning Flutterbie (well it is here any way)!😀

I’d try Asia if I was you.  I live in Germany and have been to two specialist clinics to deal with pain.  They called it “pain management”!!!  Both took 2 weeks and it was go go go most of the time.😡  There were at least five treatments per day - relaxation (that was ok of course),  gym - 1/2 an hour of agony,   mindfulness (because, in case you didn’t know all our pain is in the head)!!!,   swimming (not gentle, enjoyable swimming, stretch, pull, kick, etc etc,  walking 3/4 hour (I manage 20 minutes (if I’m lucky) in my normal life,  physiotherapy,  massage (that was good),  a couple of other things I can’t remember.  Julian said it was more like a concentration camp than a “health” resort.😀😀

The result of all this was two weeks in and out of bed and as many cocodamol as I dared to take.

Let us know when you find what you are looking for.

Kindest regards from Constance.  Have a less painful 2018 and good luck with your search.

Evening Constance, (and a chilly one at that -  it is summer here and we r expecting snow )

That is the kind of concentration camp I am trying to avoid. rolleyes  Germany is off my list for R and R then.

The NZ/ Aust ones appear to be similar - either training for the Olympics or a little bit hippie - getting in touch with your inner self etc. One has a half day lesson on learning what pain is !!!  I suspect I would have a pred meltdown at that one  - pred can make me a little feisty.

      I will keep looking.

Keep cosy over there and I hope you have a wonderful heathy 2018 too.

To be fair - I think it was a rehab clinic Constance went to - heavily medically biased and paid for by the healthcare system. My thoughts in central Europe are of hotels with medically-orientated wellness offers - not quite the same!

Correct!  There is an excellent “senior” hotel in Bad Sassendorf - all things offered, but no “must do” tag.😀   Guess where I will be going in future?

I could suggest all sorts here in Central Europe - Austria, southern Germany and northern Italy are getting heavily "in" to the wellness scene! I don't think they subscribe to the colonics theories either!!! But I guess we are a bit far away unfortunately - there is something rather wonderful about sitting in a bubbling spa that has a view of snow-covered mountains biggrin

That last sentence sounds wonderful. I might have to get some suggestions from you for Northern Italy in the future. I had considered getting an airbnb property there - I could rest relax and wander around historic places - keep my mind busy. Husband has close relatives in Austria too - the only place I can entice him to travel too.  ...........but the plane flight.........maybe at a later date.confused

Morning, this may not be your thing, but when I went to a hotel complex with separate luxurious chalets (garden lodges) I was amazed.....spa booking what you like when you like....meals fantastic....setting was so relaxing...did absolutely nothing....light sport swimming if you want.....am going again next year.biggrin...... far superior than I thought, came home totally relaxed and refreshed.....

If you are interested and want to know which particular one I am talking about, PM me.....good luck....

This does sound more like what I am looking for. Fantastic meals could be enticing tho - I was thinking of a detox type  diet - fruit /vegetables.

I wonder if there aren't cruises that you could take that would be like what you're wanting. Not that I know there are but it's another area you might want to research.

We hear about fantastic cruises a lot, one liner has excellent deals for people with MS. My friend with MS was treated like a queen.

I got scared off liners many years ago tho (500 vomiting passengers) . Even a howling gale could not clear the air so I think I will stay on land.

The trouble with cruises is that there are people EVERYWHERE.  You just can’t get away from them (unless you are in your cabin)!

The cruises I've been on were both smaller vessels, something like 400 or 600 passengers.  I would never want to set foot on one of those floating cities which visit our harbour every summer and fall now.  Never had problems with too many people around, quite the reverse, actually.  I didn't find my fellow passengers very friendly on the second cruise, in the Mediterranean, had a much better time during our self-planned day in Istanbul at the beginning, but the first one, in the Baltic, was lovely and enjoyed it thoroughly.  The third one never happened because I had an ill-timed fracture and I don't suppose the opportunity will arise again.  We are going on an art tour in the Netherlands next spring, however.  Buses all the time.

I stick to river cruises now.  Much smaller boats, not very many people and we can always find space to be alone.  Also we get to hop off the boat two or three times a day and “do our own thing”.

Yes, too many people.......This is why I do not go on cruises.  Self planned trips have been my choice....even to foreign countries.  Loved Italy, especially the Chianti area Tuscany.

One of our best holidays, before the world went to hell, was a guided tour in Egypt, including three days on the Nile, which enchanted me.

I'd love to do that too - but not at present!!!!
