Has anyone tried both Amitriptyline and Mirtazapine?

I'm interested to hear from anyone who has tried both and what their experience was with both weight gain on the two and the benefit of insomnia for the two. I've been on Mirtazapine for about 15 months and it's stopped working for my insomnia (which isn't constant but is extremely severe when I do have an episode). Also the weight gain has been horrendous - 28 pounds despite making sure I'm eating LESS than I was before I started taking it. My psych has said the only real alternative is Ami at a low dose for insomnia. I wondered if anyone here had tried both Mirtazapine and Ami and what their experiences were between the two for both weight gain and on sleep?
