Has anyone tried hypnotherapy for their anxiety? and what were the results?

I've been suffering from anxiety for many years and tried many therapies none of which have worked. I've been wondering lately about hypnotherapy and whether it is worth a try. I don't have much money so I have to be careful how I use it. I have spent a lot of money in the past on various talking therapies and feel quite resentfull and cynical now about there effectiveness. I would appreciate any replies from people who have tried hypnotherapy and whether it helped or not. Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately there is no magic bullet for anxiety. Anxiety is more of a condition where you learn to manage it rather than cure it.
I haven't tried hypnotherapy. Maybe it is effective for a while to lessen the severity of anxiety. But I don't know if the cost of it is worth it in the long run. You'd have to keep going.
You can go on YouTube and search for hypnotherapy for anxiety to see what is said about it. You can also listen to Mindfulness meditations for anxiety on YouTube for free.
actually, I have seen many on there that use hypnotherapy. Just type in hypnotherapy for anxiety in the search area.
good luck!

Hi . I've tried everything over the years. Hypnotherapy didn't do much for me as hypnotherapist said some people just can't relax enough, on other hand some people swear by it. My dad had good results for dress, but he doesn't have the racing brain that won't switch off like me. Why not give it a go and see , think it cost me £50 a session few years ago. Also why not try mindfullness and relaxation, Jan who posted previously has great knowledge of this and lots of people find it helpful, good luck , hope you find something helpful 😊??

Hi Ann. Had same problem, just can't switch off enough to get the full benefit and relax. Sometimes think' why can't I just relax a little' . Understand don't want that feeling of only feeling ' normal ' or bit relaxed if we take meds. I take mine as and when but really try to just take occasionally. Know it's easy to rely on them when we wake up and bam ' straight away we feel anxious. I had a crappy couple of weeks lately but hopefully I'm feeling bit better. Now I just have good weeks and then can feel my anxiety is worse sometimes but after so many years try to push through knowing I will have good days,. Really only find keeping busy, trying to keep my mind off anxiety works , also, spend a lot of time with mum , hubby talking, not bottling things up. I try to get out even if I feel rotten and anxious, it does help, just the thought of it when your anxious is the worst part. Hope you find some relief from this , know how draining it can be. 😊??

I've tried it, and while it's nice to have someone to talk to, it was no different to downloading a hypnotherapy app and listening to that, except it cost about £300 for a few sessions. Personally I find the reassurance I get on this site much greater value for money. 😁

I understand hypnotherapy is not cheap. I only did a couple sessions. He wanted to keep seeing me every week I couldn't the price was $75 US dollars. Anyways at first I thought it wasn't working but the truth is I left after just 4 sessions. I did feel something was changing but I thought maybe it was a placebo effect. I was skeptical to it because I thought what if something happens during the session but he let my mom be with me the whole time. He did say she would have to leave in another session. The entire process I was awake and fully aware of my surroundings. Take Care💕

I don't believe hypnotherapy should be used by itself for anxiety. Anxiety also needs to be managed day-to-day. Therefore I always use CBT with Hypnosis. So if you were going to try hypnosis out make sure the hypnotherapist is also qualified to use other psychotherapy techniques. It's all about increasing the number of safe-zones... places you feel no anxiety in. CBT is excellent for this. Hypnosis can work on your subconscious to improve relaxation and lower anxiety if you use self hypnosis (your hypnotherapist should teach you this) every day.
