I've tried it for two days and only managed to get the balloon to blow up once!!!!

I've got the otovent and almost gave up because I couldn't blow it up. Then I watched a YouTube clip and it said to prestretch the balloon by blowing it up by mouth first! Tried that and then tried it with my nose again and it finally worked!

I've only been using it a couple of days so too soon to say if it's unblocking them but they're popping when I use it. Still have the same symptoms as before in between uses though. I've got to use it for a month and see how my ears are then.

Me too. It sometimes seems to make it worse. I'm seeing an ent man next Monday so maybe he will have some more ideas.

Hope you get somewhere with ENT. That's the next step for me if this hasn't worked in a month.

Thanks Marie. Yes, I was told to persevere with Avamys nose spray for SIX weeks, then go back if it didn't work, but I woke up on Thursday and couldn't hear at all!!! Both my ears felt like they were stuffed with cotton wool, so I went back and saw another GP. He suggested the balloon treatment and has written a letter to the ent man. It's tough waiting for these things to right themselves. I hope yours improves. Good luck with the various methods.

For most of my life I have suffered with hay fever but the last few years it seems to have affected my ear about may time and the doctors said for 5 years it was tree pollen. I have have now had blocked ears for the last two years and it’s doesnt seem to relate to a time of year. I went to the doctor at the beginning of the year and they referred me to a ENT specialist as they thought I had an inner ear problem. The specialist confirm that was the case and booked me in for a hearing test which confirmed the same. It also said my ear drums were good there is an inner ear problem. . On the revisit to the specialist they prescribed me some more Avamys nose spray which seems to help but the otovent prescribed seems to be helping in popping my ears and my hearing and tinnitus seems to have improved after only 3 days of use. I’m hoping this will mean I won’t need the gromits that he thinks might be needed if this doesn’t work. The hearing has been really getting me down, makes me feel dizzy and it’s difficult to concentrate and take part in meetings due to the echo when talking. I’ll upate you soon.

3 weeks of using the otovent. And after only a day my hearing has returned. My ears pop every time. Well done consultant and thanks to otovent.

That's great news gadgets20. I have exactly same issue - hearing causing depression and impairing performance at work. Otovent arrives today and hoping for the best.

Question: do you inflate the balloon in one big snort, or can you take several attempts at it? And then when inflated, do you just let the air release into you nose?

Hi. Sorry I just saw your post. How are you getting on. I came back from holiday after a week of deafness and using the otovent as soon as I got home as I forgot to take it with me. Hearing back in moments. Ironically I have a consultant appointment tomorrow since he prescribed otovent 3 months ago. Feel like I’m wasting his time now as the otovent has solved my issue.

Yes and in my opinion its fantastic. For 2 years I struggled to hear, especially in a group. My ENT consultant told me I had glue ear but didn't recommend grommets and advised hearing aids for both ears . I went to see another consultant who suggested the Òtovènt balloon. After just 10 days of using the balloon my hearing Is back to what it should be. My family and friends are astounded. I advise anyone with glue ear to try Òtovènt before resorting to surgery or hearing aids.

Hi. I have been without it after a week away and usual plane deafness. Got home yesterday and used the otovent and back to normal. It’s brilliant.
