Has anyone tried Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation for facial nerve pain?

I read about it here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3159350/ and was curious if anyone has tried it and also where might one go to receive this treatment.

It is also known by the acronym TENS.

I went to an acupuncturist. He hooked electric up to the needles. Yes it did work!! It may take up to 10 treatments. I was fortunate it only took a few times. He explained it was an angry nerve & this reprogrammed the nerve.

I tried a TENS unit once and it triggered an awful flare. It had been recommended to me by a pain doctor. He also suggested methadone. Suffice it to say, I never went back to him.

Sorry to hear.  It doesn't sound very promising.  Where did you go to receive the TENS treatment?  Who performs them?

When I saw a Dr. he suggested a tens unit. But told me to put it on the opposite side leg for the pain. I didn't try it.

I found relief with an acupuncturist also Turmeric 800 mg.

If you go to see an acupuncturist  make sure he isn't a chiropractor also. They take a 60 hour weekend course to get their degree.

Ask if they had success with Tn. You could get relief on the 1st treatment but it could take up to ten. I pray you find relief soon.

I have started taking Turmeric 900mg in the mornings.  It's been a week and I'm not sure if it's helping, but will continue taking it.

I also plan to add other supplements as I research them.  Looking into Magnesium Glycinate, B12, B6, D3 and R-ALA.  I'm already taking Omega-3.

      Thank you.
