Has anyone with ankle hardware been told to be more careful about animal bites?

Had this discussion earlier today, and didn't come up with search results.

My coworker had knee replacement and got a terrible infection from a minor cat bite which she later was told fairly common with joint replacement. That got me to wondering do we with hardware from ORIF have to be extra careful as well??

None of the doctors have mentioned it, and they all know I work with animals.

So I am hoping someone on here may have some input?

you can get an infection after a knee replcement. I would assume from any wound. it can form around the implant which has no capabilities of fighting it off. if you want more info google it.Thats how I got the info.
