Has anyone wrenched their leg tripping or anything like that in the early days?

i tripped on my crutch yesterday. I didnt fall but I did feel it in my knee and my new hip. Today, I definitely feel achey and sore in those areas. Do you think I have done anything really bad to it? It sounds stupid tripping, but I cant feel my feet and it was one second that I had my head up and lost concentration of where my feet are. Neuropathynis the pits!

Hi Sonia , I doubt if you have popped it out or anything , you probably pulled on the healing muscle and tendons . When did you have your op ? The muscles round the hip hip area still ache a bit with me if I over do it , I'm 8 weeks post op . If it continues to ache over a couple of days pop to your GP just to reasure yourself . I'm sure you'll be ok , all the best , Ruth

    Hiya Sonia

When i was a week in i went to go down a big step the wrong way, I had family round and wasn't thinking, I heard it crunch and click and  I felt a really bad pull on it, I managed to back up on my move before I dislocated it, I'm sure I was with mm's of it going really bad, I was I shock more than anything thinking how stupid I could have been, it was sore for a few days but it all worked itself out, I'm 8 weeks this Friday and no one would ever know I had an operation or that I use to be in so much pain if they met me on the street.

The new joints that they put in are tougher than we think, we are told to be over cautious because we have a better chance of looking after it, safety first and all that but I'm sure yours will be fine and you have just made yourself a bit more aware of it! You won't do it again I'm sure, I didn't.

Best of luck with your new hip Steve

Thanks Steve. I have one sore, stiff knee and the whole cheek of my bottom aches.. It doesn't help that I have been unable to speak to my GP to set my mind at rest. I was walking with the security of crutches so easily before. I feel so bad about being so stupid to do it in the first place. Hold your head up, doesnt work for me, I have to watch where my feet are going every second. xx

Thanks Touchy. Just managed to speak to my GP and he is giving me an xray form just to make sure nothing bad has happened. I am definitely not walking ao well today, but Then as you say the muscles have been through a lot. You have no idea how reassuring this group is, it helps so much just to be in contact with people who have been in same position or similar.xx

Hi Sonia everyone is different but I fell over on my landing 7 days post op, I felt my oped hip twang and it hurt like hell and was really swollen and I was in agony I rang the hospital and went up for an XRay was given the all clear and was told that I would be supprised how strong the hip is, I got another bottle of morphine from them and with bed rest the swelling went down in a couple of days and after a week all was great

Thanks Ron. Been up for pictures, and no obvious damage. I didnt appreciate how scary all this is. This forum has been a life saver, it is so reassuring, when you have no idea what is and what is not normal.

      thank you.xx
