has my prozac suddenly stopped working?

i’ve been on prozac for months, i last increased my dose in february, it’s now september. the last few weeks i’ve been kinda sad and had low self esteem and thought i was invisible to everyone i love etc... things i always thought depressed. i’m also on buspar, which manages my anxiety very well, i last increased at beginning of august. last night i felt very sad and empty for no apparent reason, ignored my friends all night when i was with them, cried so hard on the drive home it was hard to see the road through the tears, and puked as soon as i got home bc i was so worked up. nothing happened, there was no reason for it, lately i’ve beeb so insecure and sad. am i relapsing? did my prozac stop working? or am i just having bad days that are normal/ have nothing to do w the meds? not sure if it’s just a blip or my meds aren’t working as well as before.

Maybe this could be just a side effect of upping the dose recently?  Ask the doc that prescribed the Prozac.   We do all get our good days & bad ones.  How many mg’s are you on?

i’m on 40 of prozac and 30 of buspar, my dr doesn’t want to go up any more on prozac so added the buspar instead bc i’m 17 and he’s a child psychiatrist. thinking of just going to an adult dr bc i am heavy enough and old enough to be able to go on adult dosing i feel.

It doesn’t seem right that after only a few months it would stop working for you but there are other meds that may be prescribed like mood enhancers to add to the Prozac.  Check with your doc & let us know.

Oh good.  Yeah you (I think) should be treated like an adult. Do you also see a psychologist? I do & she helps me a lot.   You poor thing.  I feel your pain.  It could just be a simple blip.  This does happen at times. Glad the buspar is helping.  I for some reason could not take it.  It made me so sick.  I use Xanax instead.   Low dose.

Are you still feeling the same way?   We all beat ourselves up at times.  Please be kind to yourself!

Let us know how you’re feeling as times goes by.  We care!

yea i am it’s weird bc i was doing so well before and had the prozac keeping the depression under control and finally got my anxiety under control.  and i’ve been seeing a psychologist but i’m going to a new one bc my old one didn’t really help give me coping mechanisms or anything just wanted to listen to my problems and say that sucks

Wow. Glad you’re going to a new one.  I started with one. Went to first visit & never went back to her.  I could immediately tell that she was not a good match or me.

I’ve now found another one who DOES give me coping skills among other things.

      You deserve better.      smile
