Hate the mornings

hi all

Into my 10th week now of taking citrolpram the side effects have all but subsided now thank god. Still having problems on a morning though with anxiety the thought of getting out of bed to face another day is still quite daunting. As the day goes on I do find myself feeling better but it's not until late afternoon and since being on the med I've had a few good days thrown in along with the bad so I'm staying positive and hope my journey continues to get better, can anyone else relate to this

Hi Jean, yes it is funny how the anxiety seems worse for some in the morning. Do you take it at night? I take mine in the morning and find the evenings worse as far as anxiety goes. So glad to hear there are a few good days inbetween the not so good ones. That's a good sign. Take care. Lee

      Hi lee

The doctor said to take in the morning I'm thinking maybe it's the tablet what's heightening my anxiety because it eases off after a couple of hours and even though I've been taking the med for only 10 wks I still think it's needs to be in my system a lot longer for it to take effect. That's my feeling anyway don't know if you or anyone else thinks the same.

    Good Morning Jean,

It sounds like you are doing well and your positivity is shining through. This all helps.

I and many others can relate to this for sure, as Cita does cause hightened anxiety to be able to treat it and as I said I didn't (think or know) I had any!

Once you level out things do get better, but I found I had to go higher (not everybody does) and have now levelled out. It all takes time, but this will pass as you keep posting and discussing your and others experiences.

    Good luck and Best Regards,

    David

I have just re-started cita and don't remember having these side effects so bad before. New doc said to take in morning but I felt so ill with headaches that I spoke to chemist as was concerned other drugs were causing the problem. I was advised to take at night as trial as 'if lucky' you can sleep through side effects. Did sleep better but still wake feeling anxious. I find if I make myself get up and keep occupied the feelings lessen. Its early days but I'm hoping I feel well soon and these anxieties will disappear. Take care

Hi Dino, I have had niggly headaches since starting this med. Difficult to handle as I have never been a headachy person. So yes Paracetamol is my new best friend. The anxiety is a nuisance to say the least, but as you know it does get better. Keeping busy is so good, sometimes we even get to forget our misery , even if it is for a short while . Good luck and take care. Lee.

I really don't do headaches but these were fierce!  They seem to be easing off thank goodness as I have so much chronic pain from fibromyalgia and bursitis that think Ive just reached tolerance point, Thank you for replying It's good to talk to people who understand and I am so glad I discovered this support group. Take care Cath

    Hi Jean

This is how it worked for me.  Mornings were my worst, and during the day things got better and by the evening I felt yay! only to wake again feeling rubbish.  This will get better and the mornings will eventually be good.  It was when I started waking feeling good that I knew I'd for over the last hurdle.

Again it takes a while ..... but it will happen.

It was such a long time ago I recovered ...... but remember it was around 3-4 months when I started noticing things getting better, and by 6 months I was feeling great.  Along the way I had many ups and downs and kept thinking I was back to square one ..... but it seems it's how the medicine works.  3 steps forward and 2 back all the time, until you well all the time.

I think the dreaded morning was one the last things to go (sorry) ... for me anyway, but it wasn't bad all the time, it just got easier.  I wonder if the mornings are bad because when you wake you realise you have another day to get through??  I'm not a morning person anyway, but at least I now wake feeling warm and cosy and not with a jolt of anxiety anymore.

It will wear off ..... try and treat it as another symptom, one that will ease as you continue to recover.

    Hi Jean

glad to hear you are having some better days,  just curious.  I find sme mornings I wake up with angry thoughts.  I wonder if you have experienced that.

      Hi lynda

Nice to hear from you Lynda,no I haven't experienced any nasty thoughts but I do think why is everybody happy all the time and nothing seems to bother them but I'm only thinking negative thoughts like this because of the depression. Just got back from seeing my GP explaining the mornings are still horrendous for me so she has sugested to take the cit on an evening instead of the morning & see how I go & if I'm still very anxious she is gonna reduce my med back down to 10mg, she said it could be to much taking 20mgs, afraid it's all trial & error.

Sounds pretty normal Jean almost "unmedicated normal" I know lots of people that tell me they believe they are just going through the motions.... so I guess even being on cita and feeling better mostly it wont completely cure us from some discomforts? I have great days then ok days still happy but not as upbeat thats pretty normal take care smile
