Have any of the women experienced irregular periods due to anxiety?

Hi,

I have been ill with severe anxiety since last August and the past 5 months or so my period has come at the usual time though it isn't as heavy and doesn't last as long as it did before. So I was wondering if anyone else on here has experienced period problems due to anxiety and if it is likely to rectify itself in time. I am 35 years old so I worry that I am going to go into an early menopause.

Hi mine can be irregular, I don't know which way round it is, missed periods making my hormone levels out of sink, increasing my anxiety, or my anxiety stress making me miss my period, its confusing.

    Hi ladies,

Mine are beginning to alter, anyway, owing to being 49. However, when I was worrying about irregular periods in the past I read that stress and anxiety are major factors in causing upsets in the cycle, as well as all the other symptoms they can cause in the body.

It would be the most likely cause of irregular periods, but I do know several people who had an early menopause, so it could be worth getting your hormone levels checked by a doctor - just a simple blood test, as far as I am aware.

    Good luck.
