Hi Steven - My heart goes out to you because from my own experience I know how difficult lower back pain can be. After a year of horrible, horrible daily pain, my spine specialist performed a radio frequency ablation on the specific nerve assumed to be causing my grief. It wasn't a difficult procedure and fourteen days after the procedure I found relief. I'm not sure if this is something that would help you or not, you'd need to discuss the procedure with a spine specialist. I'm going to send you a private message to also suggest an excellent book to read. I don't believe I'm allowed to list books/authors in this forum.

    Hi there .

    Please help me.

I have been suffering from back pain for 4 years. Honestly it has ruined my life. i can't do normal things every human does. i keep looking at people around me and can't help but think i wish i was normal again.

It all started when i joined bus driving. after 4 months of doing the job i quickly realised i was developing pain. i continued the job but based on suggestions from freinds and family, I would go gym straight after work where i would have intense stretching sessions along with lots of heavy wieghtlifting to strengthen the back. At that time i thought it was a good idea.

The pain continued and got worse at work to the point where as soon as i sat down on the bus driving seat, I was in excrutiating pain. i still continued as I didn't want to be out of a job. Finally I left the job after maybe 1 and a half years in the job .

Now i do not know a specific act that brought on the pain . but the pain was always there. After leaving the job till now, i have tried every treatment available. I have had 2 mri's and have seen 2 different neoro surgeons. Every profesional i saw told me its was nothing serious and that it would go away.

I now have sciatica down my left leg and my back is always in pain. the worst is when i try to relax. I haven't sat down on a chair like a normal person for 4 years. I cannot watch tv like a regular person. I'm always standing up or trying to stretch or moving around to try and relieve the symptoms. Sitting in the car is the worst, the pain is so bad, hits the lower back instantly. I have tried physio to the point i had 6 packs. Honestly i feel hopeless. Overtime it has gone progressively worse and in the next 4 years god knows where i will be. Why can i not sit down and just watch TV?!

My Pain is mainly in the lower back, just above the glute. it gets inflamed a lot. the left side of my back is always stiff, and i get pain on my left bum all the way down the leg and to the heels and feet. The left upper back is also affected. I really have tried everything. I'm finding it hard to accept that i will have to live the rest of my life in this agony.

I have lost a lot of family and freinds around me due to this. I'm in such a bad state. Please help , or if anyone has had similar experience please get in touch.

      hi alek40194,

I'm really sorry to hear you've been going through that, i know from experience how demoralizing and depressing chronic back pain can be. I've had pain for almost 6 years now, but in the last 8 months it's been unbearable with constant spasms and pain. i have also been unable to sit for longer than 5 minutes, put my shoes on or bend for 8 months now. I had my fair share of treatments and appointments with physios and a surgeon, however, no one could determine the cause of the pain. I finally saw an osteopath just to try something different and received shockwave therapy, manipulation, massage and dry needling. It made an immediate difference and allowed me to start doing simple strengthening exercises and I went from being able to walk for only 5-10 minutes to walking for an hour within a couple weeks. I've also been taking muscle relaxants and anti inflammations like Voltaren. Panadol osteo is also good for long term pain management. its no good if you only take it short term but if you take it everyday consistently you should feel a difference in a couple weeks. I'm not a medical professional this is just what has worked for me. I would also recommend trying to get into a pain clinic as they are thorough and extensive and try many different things. They also take into account the mental stress pain has on you. I know what it feels like to desperately want to be normal but please don't give up, there's always something more to try and any progress in the end is positive.

I had some serious lower back pain earlier this year. Dr. Mitra at BH Acuhealth offers acupuncture for back pain. I found her to be insightful, a good listener, with excellent bedside manner, and above all, an amazing practitioner. A few days after the second visit, it was pretty much gone. Good luck!
