Have I got Fibro?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi I hope someone can give me some advise. I have been feeling ill for 2 years now. It started with dizziness and nausea when walking, then progressed to complete exhaustion, feeling like I'm coming down with something, terrible pain in lower back, right hand, right elbow and left foot. The symptoms get worse through stress at work. I've had a lot of time off and I'm calling in sick tomorrow and I doubt if I will be able to go back due to the pain, exhaustion and the lack of concentration. I'm 48, always worked and it's so upsetting to admit I just can't work anymore. Jo

Feel so sorry for you. I am currently off work at the moment. I feel utterly physically and mentally drained. I have been in this job for fifteen years and have to say I feel so silly at times from brain fog too. My body aches from head to toe different places at different times, although chest and back pretty much got pain there constant. I have Costochondritus too. Stress definitely makes you ten times worse that is why I'm off at the moment. The thing is I go with the flow until I'm completely floored and it's awful....I can sympathise with you 😞

Thank you for replying, I'm the same with the brain fog, spelling has gone to pot, even conversations can be difficult now.

Hi jo, mine started with dizziness too. really bad, with hot flushes and i felt utterly exahasted. have a chat with your gp and ask to see a rheumatologist to see if it could be fibro. the gp may do a lot of other test (blood tests) to rule out other things unless they have been done already. it took me 2 years to get a diagnosis as i had so many symptoms they had to rule almost everyting else out first..

Good luck. hope you find your answer.

it did mine too, i can no longer go out socialising, i can't drink, smoke, dance, i use a mobility scooter to get about now, it really has taken mine  bit by bit too. iv'e just learnt to substitute things, so instead of nights out i go out to a nice beer garden when it's warm in an afternoon or for coffee instead to see friends. i drink non alcoholic beer instead of standard beer as i love beer lol.. and i use my scooter so i can get out and not be stuck in all the time just because i can't walk far... of course i still have to be careful to not over do it and sometimes there are days i can't go out at all.. i think coming to terms with how my new life is was hard, very hard sometimes, ther have been a lot of tears and tantrums but i'm getting there now.. i really hope you get some answers but just know that you're not alone in the strugle..

Hi Jo so sorry to hear what your going through , and how your feeling bless you. drs like to rule out other conditions it could be eg rheumatoid arthritus before refering you to a rheumatologist its they that not normally diagnose fibromyalgia. Write down all your symptoms take it to the drs with you. tell them how you are each day and your symptoms. it sounds like it could be fibro but you need to be seen by a rheumatologist for a definite diagnoses. my advice is see your gp and see if they would refer you.take care

I've been to see GP and he thinks I'm depressed, I tried telling him it's the pain that's making me depressed! he wants me to have blood tests but he hasn't given me anything for the pain, I could cry.

I can sympathise with you completely Jo. I also feel down due to constant pain. I have just had my second set of bloods done but received a call this morning to go tomorrow for another as one of them has come back inconclusive...I have been given medication though as I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Costochondritis and Hypermobility Syndrome. It's awful I was fine until I gave birth to my son almost seven years ago but I've suffered a bad flare up due to stress lately and I feel totally drained and cannot shift it. Hope you get something soon as it's murder x

What medication have you been on before? Only found out two years ago that I was displaying fibromyalgia symptoms. I feel that Drs just look at you as if to say you know what's wrong why are you here again. Have you been stressed lately making they symptoms much worse. I find I manage for a good while then I just get down and fed up with aches and pains. I feel it's before my time lol too young for all these pains 😞 x

I have had depression for about 4 years and take fluoxitine, the pains and exhaustion started about 6 months ago and I have just put up with them. I know they aren't to do with my depression. I'm going to see a more experienced GP tomorrow and see what they say about the pain.
