Have mutiple joint replacements & need more. How much is too much?

I have bilateral tkr which has been life changing for the better. I'm about to have bilateral CMC arthroplasty on my thumbs. I have a hip that is killing me. I have diffuse oa. I feel like a cash cow everytime I see an orthopedist. The arthritis doctor isn't much help. I am allergic to nickel so my joint replacements are titanium. My inner voice is telling me to be careful. What has been the experience of other bionic people?

I read so many posts here from people suffering who wont go the surgery route, most ops are successful the ones that work those people rarely post.

Thank you wknight. I agree that pain relief is probably the #1 reason for joint replacement. Surgery is a big step to get your life back & it is a real & very viable option. Insurance companies are throwing up their road blocks. I just completed 12 weeks of worthless hand theraphy that I swear made things worse & am now scheduled for surgery. My surgeon said he doesn't bother to prescribe PT for thumb arthritis because it just causes more pain. No s**t, but I had to jump thru the hoops to get to him. My concern is this: arthritis is an auto-immune disorder. How much foreign objects can a person have in their body before the auto-immune mechanism goes completely out of wack?
I think alot of people enjoy suffering. People want a quick fix. Joint replacement , as you know, requires alot of work to get the best outcome. I'm not interested in having a painpill addiction or going on disability. Best of luck to you.
