Have sex during BV?

First of all, of course I know it's not an STI and men can't get it.
I've been diagnosed with it the day before yesterday and given antibiotics to drink(a week's course). But I was told I can postpone the course if I'm planning to be drinking soon, because you can't mix the two. So i decided to start the course in a week. Usually the first 5 hours or something after I had a shower I feel clean and comfortable, but I notice the smell when it's been longer than that.
I met this attractive guy recently and I'm leaving soon(I was planning to start the antibiotics while I'm away). Do you think it's a good idea to have sex when I have it? In particular:
a)Will he notice the smell? I'm planning to have a shower right before it but I heard the smell gets worse after sex. And of course explaining him I have BV would be my worst nightmare...
b)Is it ok for a man 'to go down' on me when I have it?
c)Has anyone had any experience in having sex with BV? Can you tell me how it went?
d)I've also heard you are at a greater risk of getting HIV when you have BV. I don't think he has it(hopefully) and we are going to use a condom, but it still worries me.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Kate if you have sex while you have BV it's really not a good idea. If you shower first that will not matter. It's going to be very embarrassing because he will smell it. There's no way around the smell. If you douche before hand it will make the smell stronger.

My bf and I do have sex a few times a month, we always use condoms and lube and I shower beforehand and try to get as much of the discharge out as I can, then I use rephresh afterwards which helps somewhat. I DO NOT let him go down on me though, which is really awful because before BV that was my favorite

First off STOP taking refresh. No more douches or anything of the sort. I was in the same boat. My Gyno would give me Metrogel everybody and when I asked her why I can't get rid of BV she said " I don't know" UGH! That was until I starting taking Bio K probiotics! Within one month I was BV free and have been so for six years strong! Changed my sex life! I wish someone had told me sooner!

I know I know, I was mostly trying to get like a day of relief so that I could have sex, but I'm not seeing anyone anymore so that is no longer a problem! I'm not using rephresh right now, I'll try the Bio K

I would wait.... 1 Bv leaves a horrible smell after sex... 2 If you're having sex with him for the first time you would want to be at tip too shape. Its not your husband. Sounds like you're priorities are messed up. You're putting alcohol and sex before your health. The Dr have you medicine.... Take it

I'm 41 and the first time I got bv was when I was 35. Mine wouldn't go away either, I tried everything for a couple years. This is what worked for me. You should buy the water works natural vaginal therapy. You will Thank me!! You use it in the shower, it takes away the smell and the itchiness. Other things that work are if you get the vaginal gel, my doc said only use it once a week, even if says for 5 days. If u use it every day it will come right back. Also if you eat a lot of leaf spinach in place of lettuce, the smell will go away. Good luck!

This to anyone dealing with BV. I had a hysterectomy in 2010 and hadn't been to the gyno. Going thru a divorce and going to lose my insurance so I went just because in August 2017. I was diagnosed with BV. WHO KNOWS how long I have had this because I have absolutely NO symptoms. No smell, discharge, nothing. From all I have read and it's been extensive, seems docs are clueless about how you actually contract this since celibate people get it??!! I find this extremely frustrating and have actually developed symptoms since I choose not to take the metro antibiotics that said how sick you could get whether you drink or not. It felt like a yeast infection so I did a three day Yeast over the counter treatment. Well I now have discharge, no smell. The itching is ridiculous. I'm over the fact that everything I have read says you will probably get it again and need another round of antibiotics. The most disturbing part to me is that I had no clue that I had this condition and have not run across any info that suggests how you can avoid getting this!!!
I was up front with my partner and he couldn't have cared less but then I don't have the small thankfully. I just want someone to tell me how to never get this!!!!! I'm going to be 60 in a couple months so it's not like I'm out and about.........
