have tingling in both hands and wrists for 2 weeks now

both my hands and wrists hurt and tingle all the time.  I have arthritis in both hands and have overused my hands a lot a few weeks ago. My doctor thinks it's carpal tunnel, but did no tests on them.  What is wrong? I have a wrist brace, but it does not help.

Hi Mary, I have had a carpal release op just 4 weeks ago. I had tingling and pains in both hands and wrists....which also radiated up my right arm too. I had an pulse type test done which confirmed carpal tunnel. My hands are very stiff in the morning and get better during the day and with use but the tingling drove me mad. So....4 weeks down the line ive no improvement. I'm seeing a rheumatologist next week as they think it may be sarcoidosis?  Did I actually need the op then? Mmmm....I beginning to wonder!

Get tested properly for carpal tunnel Mary. Take things from there. The op is pretty straightforward and very quick. They recommend 3 weeks off work and no driving for 2 weeks.

    keep in touch.

    Hi Mary

sorry to hear you are suffering.

i had my op. 8weeks ago and am doing fine.

i would advise you to ask your GP for a referral for nerve conduction tests and that will verify your diagnosis. The last thing you need is an unnecessary op. But if you have got CTS then the sooner you get in the system for a release operation the better

    good luck
