Have you been fitted with a pessary for a prolapse? Advice, please.

I'm 74 and had a prolapse repair 12 years ago. Now, I'm pretty sure that I've got another one. I really don't feel up to another operation and have been thinking about a pessary. Has anyone else here chosen a pessary? How often does it need changing? Does it hurt to have it fitted? Would you recommend one? Any information would be gratefully received.
