Have you ever seen a neurologist for postherpetic neuralgia?

It has been suggested to me that I see a neurologist for the neuralgia that I have now after having shingles.  I was told that this indicates that the herpes zoster virus is still in my system and that I could recover faster by seeing a neurologist.   

I wanted to know if anyone here ever was treated by one for post-herpetic neuralgia and what came from it?
