Since Vulvodynia and atrophy have many symptoms in common,in fact some women have both ,Vaginal Atrophy and Vulvodynia, have you been offered any options other than HRT such as tricilic antideprsants to reduce central nervous system pain, anesthic ointment or siezure drugs that also can control nerve pain?If these things help vulodynia I would also think they would help the pain of VA.One of the gynocoligist I saw said she might consider this if other things such as Replens etc dont help.Food for thoughy.Pain is caused by nerves and adville etc barely touch it with me.

Lee, the amitrip and Saginil gel helped to make the pain bearable so that I could function in everyday life. However, it was the acupuncture and manual desensitisation that got rid of it completely - these things were recommended to me by a consultant dermatologist who runs a vulval pain clinic and she has found that such things are successful with many women. She said to me that it is really worth going all out with this condition and trying everything, finding what works for you and sticking with it - be determined, or you will have it for years.

I take an anxiety med, wondering if that might work in the same way as the antidepressant in makeing the pain duller. I know it used to help with the hot flashses.

It may do - anti anxiety and anti depressant drugs may have similar effects. Amitrip is used for hot flushes.
