Having a bad day

Posted , 6 users are following.

Feel really bad today. :-) Used the steroid cream before bed last night , also some Balance Active up inside. Then today I have used a Vit E Suppository up inside. But I only managed an hour in town. Had to head home with the pain and discomfort. Went to the ladies in M & S but only managed a trickle. Home now. Am crying inside :-( If the kids disappeared for an hour, I would completely break down. I can't take it any more. :-( I would try the Estriol cream (GYNEST) again but I'm scared of the side effects. :-(

    Hi Shirley

Yes it affects your urine mine goes slight trickle and have to almost push it out then loads of it like niagra falls. Pressure in low stomach which is just irritating and is the bladder being irritated by something I've eaten or drunk.

Other symptoms sore vagina and sensitive lady bits. Burning after weeing . I was treated for thrush and cystitis also VA over and over because the symptoms of vulvadynia are close to symptoms of thrush and VA . I had to go to a gynaecologist who diagnosed vulvadynia. Not many doctors are familiar with it I'm afraid.

Hi Liz, Must admit that whilst my urine goes to a slight trickle, its not a case of almost having to push it out or it being like Niagara falls as a result. Usually after the trickle I just have to wait till I want to go again, then I get another trickle and it can continue like this all day. Yes I have that pressure in my low stomach/bladder area. My Vagina is often sore and uncomfortable but no burning after weeing or at the end of weeing unless I've got a UTI. I went to gynaecologist two weeks ago with what my Doc says is V A but she never mentioned it and said I'd got LS. Just makes me wonder if this is Vulvodynia though and I will be asking doc about it.

Hi Shirley oh what fun we have as we get older!!! I too was told it may be LS but when i went to a dermatologist she said vulvadynia. I rather wish i had none of these as Im sure you do too. Vitamin e capsules inserted in the vagina soothe and get rid of soreness I did six weeks of them on alternate nights stopped the soreness I also tried Yes that was good for soothing as well.

it was a dermatologist who specialised in vulval pain who helped me. The gyne just gave me steroid cream and amitriptylene then told me he couldn't cure me just help me manage the pain. I didn't want to live the rest of my life managing the pain - I wanted to be free of the pain. Thank god I saw the dermatologist who knew exactly what would help (acupuncture and manual desensitisation) - and it did - gradually, it got progressively better (unfortunately there is no quick cure).

Hi Liz, Yes what fun! I wasn't expecting any of this. I would like to know if my mum suffered with it but she died last August so I will never know.

I have had Vaginal Atrophy for 18 months but it was only at my gynae appt at the end of last month that they told me I'd got LS. I didn't think so but on closer inspection, there were little spots down there. Not many I but could see perhaps 4 or 5. So wether that's the LS I don't know. And wether I've got V A or wether its been vulvodynia all along and not V A, I can't be sure. Perhaps the fact that no HRT helped my condition points to Vulvodynia? I . But I keep using Balance Active, Hydromol, Vit E Suppositories, plus I've got Haylofemme and tried Replens too. Also tried Homeopathy but that go me nowhere. So sick of it all.

So yes, I wish I'd not got any of this. Wish I'd never heard of it. I'm sat here now. I can feel the soreness building up as I sit here so I will go and get another Vit E Suppository shortly. Yes the Vit E does help doesn't it. Perhaps I should use them on alternate nights too for a while instead of just when I'm sore and uncomfortable. Not tried Yes as yet though I found the Replens didn't help much and neither did the Haylofemme. What a complete and utter bind. I even avoided a funeral last week because I was scared I wouldn't be able to get comfortable or walk out of the church if it came to it. It's a good job I didn't go to the funeral as there were 150 people there in a round church and the service took best part of an hour. I didn't know the deceased and I'd had very little contact with his family over the years. So nobody would be bothered that I wasn't there. It was the funeral of a relative of hubby's.

Oh no I'm getting sore again and I'm off out for coffee with my friend in an hour. sad

Hi Shirley miserable doe sent cover the half of it. I was sore so for six weeks one. Night vegetarian capsules vitamin e next night rose oil and garlic and lactobacillus. That worked but then I found I had vulvodynia and now wonder if that senses was all along vulvadynia and not vag atrophy which they all told me I had. I used estriol made no difference whatsoever I've used rephresh replens all the ones you used. Yes is great very soothing and lubricating. Why have you not been given lidocaine it stops the pain it's ointment which dulls the nerve endings. The doctor can prescribe it you can't buy it. I use it if I feel sore below and the pain goes try it.

just be careful trying all these things - lidocaine really stung me and made me worse, as did Hyalofemme. The vulvodynia made me very sensitive to eveything except natural oils. It may not have been the medicine itself but the other chemicals in the cream / gel used as preservatives or to balance PH.

I agree Liz, Miserable doesn't half cover it. It sounds like you have had a very similar experience to me, what with the different things you have tried and then finding out you have vulvodynia and not V A. I'm wondering if that's what I've got too, along with the LS. I tried Ovestin for the VA one night and the pain was dreadful! Isn't Ovestin Estriol? I used Vagifem and GYNEST for 6 months each but they made very little difference. I am definitely going to mention lidocaine to my doctor next time I see him/her. Just one thing I'm not clear on, with the vulvodynia, are you in pain all the time or does it come and go?

Hi suki I'm fine with lidocaine it took a while to get the courage to use it but once I did it was ok. I tried oils and swelled up twice the size so had no option but to try something else.

Hi Shirley before finding out I had vulvadynia yes in pain all the time . With the nortryptoline you get episodes when the nerve has moved it causes discomfort and I use the lidocaine to stop it. Also my therapist deals with this all day both here and in London and says nerves hate sitting still so I walk or do housework or garden and I find it goes. I have to occupy my mind and then the twinges go it's not 100 % every time but manageable and not constant pain.

Shirley sorry yes ovestin is estriol and it did nothing for me. Vagifem I used one read the side effects and ditched them frightened me to death. Went to dermatologist as doctors told me I had L S and I didn't.

Liz, reading what you say here, I've not got vulvodynia. I'm not in pain all the time. Most of the time but not all day long. It comes and goes for me. Like I said in my other post, I woke up fine, as I do many mornings, then I had a wee and the pain came back. But often the pain builds up during the morning anyway . then it comes and goes during the day. I'm glad you've got Lidocaine to help you with your pain. Any vaginal discomfort and pain is awful isn't it. sad

Hi Liz, Yes I thought Ovestin was Estriol. It made me worse than ever. So I only used it once. Plus I saw the side effects and it mentioned strokes. My mum died 6 months ago from a bad stroke so needless to say, I'm scared to death of them now. It was gynae who told me I had LS. Doc say I've got V A. Perhaps I've got both? Thinking I'm going to have to do like someone on here suggested recently. That is, use Hydromol or similar on the outside of my Vagina before having a wee then it will be protected when I have a wee. Got up fine this morning, had a wee. Now I'm sore as hell again. However I had a wee in the middle of the night and no soreness then. So its not something that happens every time.sad

    10.20am. Friday.

I have now had a shower and washed down below with Hydromol ointment as it "Doubles" as soap . plus it is fragrance free too. I feel a bit better now thankgod as I was in a lot of pain. But am going to use the Hydromol for protection before I wee so will keep the tub in the bathroom. And if the soreness returns up inside, I will use a balance active and/or a Vit E Suppository again. Trouble is if I get that awful soreness away from home I can't just have a shower can I and its not forced to work every time anyway. Depends where the soreness is coming from.

Hi Shirley could the soreness be coming from your vulva? I had soreness when I weed and it was my vulva that was irritated and every time I went it got worse. I used daktacort fungal cream or canasten fungal cream and after a few days it went away. I get it back every now and again but know how to deal with it now. As long as you can solve it and have something to use your mind is a lot better . I also used nappy cream bepanth to coat before going I guess your hydrogel does that.

Hi Liz, I'm having an awful afternoon. Was OK after this mornings shower. Went down town. Had lunch in Mc Donald's. And I notice that it's after my junk food lunch that soreness came back, as well as wanting to wee all the time! Went to Morrison's and wanted to wee all the time there too. Got home and I'm horribly sore as well as wanting to wee as soon as I have just been. Shoved a vit E Suppository up and so far no effect so I'm going to use the balance active in a moment. I will try the fungal cream you mention just in case. But right now I'm really not good. sad
