Having a colonoscopy

Would appreciate how others found this procedure. First thing was that awful foul tasting clear out mixture (Movicol).Even drinking with a straw didn't help and having it chilled. Each glassful seemed to taste worse every time.I opted for sedation with possible top up with gas & air. I dropped off immediately, but was woken with a bad pain later. I was so glad of the gas and air and didn't feel a thing after that. I woke up feeling fantastic.I was told nothing sinister had been found. At the end of the day, some discomfort is worth it in the end. My treatment from the medical team at my local hospital were second to none (The Conquest Hospital, Hastings, East Sussex).

I've had to have several of these procedures now so I'm used to the routine.
The Moviprep (in my case) isn't pleasant. I just hold my nose and wash it down with lots of water.
I have never had sedation as I can't be bothered with having to arrange to have someone come with me or watch over my afterwards, Call me weird, but I like to watch the scope as it travels around and want to be fully alert so I can ask questions.
It's usually completely painless. Just one time it was uncomfortable. I was in a severe flare up of ulcerative colitis and the inflammation and ulceration made it trickier for the endoscopist to get the scope round the bends.
I agree with you. Any discomfort is worth the diagnostic benefits and the preventative measures that can be taken, for example, removal of polyps.

For me procedure , prep and sedation was all fine.. I dont think its that bad procedure what people on internet made it like. My issue started 2 days post colonoscopy where I had severe stomach pain and had to go through MRI , CT and Emergency Rooms to make sure there is nothing wrong.
Anyhow , I think this is one of the best procedure instead of having virtual CT or Virtual Colonoscopy.
